Exclusive Scandinavian Cruiser 20 distributors.
The Scandinavian Cruiser is a very unique boat design concept, which does not compete directly with any other brands in the market. It targets the growing segment of experienced sailors who want a very stylish day boat. The Scandinavian Cruiser 20 is the beginning of a brand building process, which will lead to several additional larger models in the future, all based on the same concept and lines.
Many people have said that the Scandinavian Cruiser 20 is the most beautiful small day boat they have ever seen, and that the “sail-away” retail price of GBP 15,500, EUR 19,900 or USD 24,900, excluding optional equipment, shipping, delivery, duty and tax, is very reasonable.
Production of the SC 20 started in May 2009, and the global launch is taking place during the winter of 2009/10 at major international boat shows, supported by advertising in international sailing magazines.
Manufacturing the SC 20 at a high-quality foreign-owned boatyard in China gives us the cost structure that is required to support global distribution and marketing.

Advertising & promotion
The growth in inquiries from around the world is very strong, from all the international yachting magazines, most of which are planning to test-sail the SC 20, publish editorials, and run ads, and from potential owners. We are also receiving thousands of monthly hits on our web site. All inquiries are immediately passed on to our distributors.
We are seeking entrepreneurial distributors who have the enthusiasm, energy and persistence that it takes to build a new brand, and who will actively and creatively promote the SC 20 in their market through the following activities:
Boat shows.
- Advertising in sailing magazines and yacht club newsletters.
- Test sailing with magazine journalists.
- Boat racing.
- Establish a local class organization.
- Establish a local web site and blog.
- Demonstrations at major yacht clubs.
- Test sailing with potential new owners.
- Active follow-up with potential new owners.
- Arrange importation and/or delivery logistics for boats and road trailers.
- Provide customer after-sales service and spare parts sales.
Potential owners tell us that the SC 20 is the most beautiful small day boat they have ever seen, and boat shows is therefore where most potential owners will be unable to resist the temptation to purchase one. Very few other boats will give owners this much beauty and pleasure for such a reasonable amount of money. Another important marketing method is demonstrations at major yacht clubs. It is very easy to move the SC 20 around the country, and she will no doubt create a lot of attention on the lawn or pier of a major yacht club.
We will contribute marketing funds towards the cost of brand advertising and boat-shows in each country, based on our distributors proposed marketing activity budget and boat purchase orders.
Our expectations to our distributors are flexible. It takes time to develop a new brand, and we must manage our business risks and expenses. We have a very unique new boat design that meets a market need for a small beautiful day boat at a reasonable price. This is a boat that will sell well when potential owners get a chance to see it.
We see the market development in 3 main phases:
1) Pre-marketing phase
- Appointment of exclusive distributors.
- Contact with local on-line and off-line media to generate publicity.
- Follow up on leads from potential customers.
- Timing: Winter 2010.
2) Launch marketing
-Bring the first boat to the country.
- Test sailing with magazine journalists
- Boat show.
- Demonstration in major yacht clubs.
- Timing: Spring/summer 2010.
3) Mature marketing
- Owners association and events
- Launch of new models
- Timing: 2011 and forward.
During phase a), distributors need to commit time and effort to perform the pre-marketing activities. This will give the distributors a better idea about the market potential for the Scandinavian Cruiser 20.
During phase b) distributors need to commit to purchase one demo boat, and commit the time end effort required to handle the marketing activities. We will provide a marketing budget for each boat purchased by our distributors.
Warranty
Our warranty policy adheres to the consumer protection laws and regulations in the country where the owner resides. Scandinavian Cruisers is our family company and our design concept, and we want every owner to be proud of his or her Scandinavian Cruiser, and we will do everything we can to help any owner if they have any problems with their boat in the future. We are third generation boat builders from Bandholm Boats in Denmark, and our family has been building high-quality boats for many decades.
Hardware spare-parts are always available since we use major brands such as Harken, Neil Pryde Sails, RWO and Tacktics. If you need any spare-parts, we will airmail them directly to your home.
We warrant that the boats are free of any faults (materials, craftsmanship and design) at the time of delivery, and that all repairs that may result from such faults will be solved at our cost. We provide this warranty for 2 years from the time of delivery.
Logistics
The SC 20 is designed with the intent of shipping 3 boats in a standard 20’ shipping container, and 6 boats in a standard 40’ shipping container.
During the initial introductory period we will subsidize the logistics costs by arranging shipment of a single boat, rather than a batch of 3 or 6 boats, without any additional shipping costs to the distributor. We may also arrange consolidated shipments to several nearby countries, provided this is suitable for all parties involved.
Each boat is fully assembled and tested at our boatyard, and then it is packaged carefully, with easy instruction about how to assemble the boat again upon arrival in your country. You do not need any special equipment, except for common hand tools.
Each complete boat is plastic wrapped and secured in a shipping cradle, with all components, sails, two-part carbon fiber wingmast, carbon fiber boom, carbon fiber/lead bulb lifting keel, and the carbon fiber lifting rudder all included in the shipment.
Road trailers are purchased locally through our distributors due to the complexities of national trailer vehicle laws and regulations.
Owners may purchase a Torqeedo electric motor or a Honda or Suzuki 2.5 HP outboard engine through our distributors in their home country.
